Legal Challenges

Automakers are trying—but so far failing—to block California and other states from implementing landmark vehicle global warming pollution standards. Despite the U.S. Supreme Court decision declaring greenhouse gas an air pollutant under the Clean Air Act, and automaker losses in federal courts in Vermont and California, automakers have filed appeals and are trying again in Rhode Island.
