California’s Clean Cars Program is set to bring the next generation of clean, low-polluting cars and light trucks into the driveways of California’s families.
By setting strong standards to reduce harmful emissions from our cars and light trucks, and ensuring infrastructure is available for clean alternative fuels, we will reduce our dependence on oil, create new jobs, protect consumers’ pocketbooks, ensure our children breathe clean air, reduce global warming pollution, and make our state a global leader in clean car technology.
The California Air Resources Board is working in partnership with key federal agencies to develop the next generation of vehicle standards and will soon vote on important updates to the Clean Cars Program. We need to ensure that California continues as a national leader by adopting robust clean car standards.
I urge the California Air Resources Board to adopt the strongest possible standards for the following programs:
